Girls on the Run is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.

Girls on the Run (GOTR) East Central Ohio is an independent council of Girls on the Run International. GOTR of Stark County was established in 2010 and served 24 girls in our inaugural season. In 2016, we started serving Wayne County. In anticipation of expanding our reach within the region, we officially changed our Council name to GOTR East Central Ohio in July of 2017. Close to 4,000 girls have participated in our program.

Girls on the Run International was established in 1996 in Charlotte, North Carolina by Molly Barker. What started with thirteen girls in one school has grown to over 200 councils in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. With the help of almost 100,000 volunteers, Girls on the Run served nearly 180,000 girls in 2015, including our millionth girl! Girls on the Run continues to grow and currently hosts more than 350 end-of-season 5K events across the United States, making the Girls on the Run 5K series the largest in the country. Girls on the Run has also expanded to include middle school girls through Heart & Sole, a program dedicated to the unique needs of adolescent girls.

Paula Mastrioanni

Executive Director

“"They say the eyes are the windows to the soul. If that's true all you need to do is look into the eyes of one of our girls and it's obvious we are making a difference in their lives. The joy, caring, self-confidence and a whole host of other attributes we bring to them is magical. That's the gift GOTRECO gives to me!"”

Dee Dee Amentas

Program Coordinator

“"I love that GOTR celebrates ALL girls and allows them to explore their inner-self in a comfortable, fun setting! There is nothing more rewarding than watching these young girls achieve their goals, with such amazing spirit!"”

Angie Gill

Stark County 5K Coordinator

“My favorite thing about Girls on the Run is the start line on race day. (Go figure!) This is when it becomes real for the GOTR girls and they set their own goals and expectations of what happens between the start line and the finish line. You can see it on their faces (they're growing right in front of me) and it moves me to tears every year.”

We're always considering passionate individuals to join our team and help us inspire more girls in Stark, Wayne and surrounding counties.
